Monsanto's GMO Corn Linked To Organ Failure, Study Reveals.

In a study released by the International Journal of Biological Sciences, analyzing the effects of genetically modified foods on mammalian health, researchers found that agricultural giant Monsanto’s GM corn is linked to organ damage in rats.

According to the study, which was summarized by Rady Ananda at Food Freedom, “Three varieties of Monsanto’s GM corn – Mon 863, insecticide-producing Mon 810, and RoundupĀ® herbicide-absorbing NK 603 – were approved for consumption by US, European and several other national food safety authorities.”

The California Senate is just 2 votes short to pass its single payer health care bill, SB 810 – the California Universal Healthcare Act,before the end of this legislative session on Tuesday.

Four Democratic Senators have not voted either way on this bill. Its author, Senator Mark Leno, can bring the bill up for reconsideration, as long as he knows that he has two more votes!!

Occupy Seeks Donations for Homeless Students – Belmont Shore-Naples, CA Patch.

The Occupy Long Beach movement will hold a donation drive on Sunday, Jan. 29 through Sunday, Feb. 12 in order to raise money for homeless students in the city of Long Beach.

Due to a large influx of foreclosures, defaults and record unemployment, homelessness is on the rise nationally. Consequently, according to Occupy Long Beach, the number of homeless students in Long Beach as of the 2010-11 school year is approximately 5,300 students.
