Occupy Collects Clothes For Homeless – Gazettes.com: To Do.
Occupy Long Beach is collecting clothes for homeless students seven days a week through Feb. 12 at Bixby Park, at the corner of Broadway and Junipero Avenue.
Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The group suggests donations of new athletic or closed-toe shoes, socks, jackets and sweatshirts/hoodies for children grades K-12 in all sizes. Donations will be given directly to Long Beach students in coordination with the Bethune Transitional Center and Los Angeles County Office of Education, Student Support Services.
“Just as we raise our collective voice to effect change within our government, we raise our arms to embrace all members of the community,” Mary Ellen Hobbs of Occupy Long Beach said in a release.
Donations also will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at Urban Cottage, 4121 Long Beach Blvd.
